Client: Stillhouse Spirits Co.
The world’s first
stainless steel can
of whiskey
Moonshine has long been known as the quintessential “this’ll make you go blind” spirit—made illicitly in the swamps under the light of the moon by men of ill repute. When legal moonshine brands hit the market, many softened the category’s dangerous edge by packaging in nostalgic containers like mason jars and jugs. But Stillhouse took a different approach.
Tasked with branding Stillhouse Moonshine, Sandstrom Partners chose to “make the safe dangerous” again. Inspired by moonshine’s origins—stored in anything from gas cans to turpentine containers—we created a bold, oblong stainless steel can. This unique vessel is lighter, more portable, and more affordable than glass, setting Stillhouse apart as a modern dare to LDA+ consumers.
Consumers initially struggled with how to drink moonshine, so we created a brand story and program that named three ways to enjoy it: shot (straight), bruised (shaken), and punched (with juice). Stillhouse started as an independent brand and was acquired by Bacardi USA in 2020, drawn by the distinctive packaging and storytelling crafted by Sandstrom Partners.
