Daniel Call was a Tennessee preacher, farmer, grocer and distiller in the 1800s, and the family patriarch who started a thriving little whiskey business in Lynchburg, with a young man named Jack Daniel and talented distiller known as Uncle Nearest. It’s a long story, so we put it on the label.
