Client: Call Family Distillers

The Reverend Daniel Call was a Tennessee preacher, farmer, grocer and distiller in the mid 1800s. He took in an orphan named Jasper “Jack” Daniel as a young boy, and years later introduced him to the business of making whiskey. The two became partners in a distillery in Lynchburg, until Reverend Dan chose to honor his congregation when they sided with the Temperance movement. He sold his interests in the business to Jack Daniel who became sole owner. The Reverend’s descendants however, continued to distill for decades after, including making moonshine in North Carolina during Prohibition. Recently the Call family has released a sour mash whiskey using the original methods as a tribute to American whiskey heritage.
